Apple’s M1 has top performance now, but Intel has something to say

Intel claims it’s 11th gen Core i7 has superior performance than Apple’s M1 Processor!

Apple’s M1 has top performance now, but Intel has something to say

Intel has been the king of processors for a long time. In the last 10 years, AMD started to cut share in the processor place and lastly, Apple released its ARM-based M1 for Mac Mini, Macbook Air, and Macbook Pro which shows a huge performance boost from the previous intel based Mac series. While analysts and experts think that the M1 is a big challenge for Intel processors, Intel recently published a report claiming its 11th gen Core i7-1185G7 processor has much better performance than Apple’s M1.

While Apple’s M1 processor is still very new and has to prove its true nature in the long run, the early benchmark shows it has a tremendous performance boost from the previous generation Intel-based Mac. macOS Big Sur has native support for the processor including other Apple applications and many other 3rd party applications as well yet not all the apps are running smoothly on M1.

Apps that don't natively support M1, Apple use Rosetta 2 for translating the app to make it compatible with M1 architecture.

On the other side, Intel is ready to claim back its position from Apple.

They recently released a benchmark report showing its 11th gen  Core i7-1185G7 CPU has better performance than M1’s processor for both native and non-native applications. The report also indicates the Core i7-1185G7 has superior battery life.

If there is only one single company dominating the top position, customers are going to suffer. Considering this Intel, AMD, and Apple fight for processors, now the market is going to see finer products.
